DETAILS & AMENITIES

For a truly coastal experience, Villa Normanni is set right on a small but perfectly charming bay in Sicily. This contemporary villa tempts you with captivating, panoramic sea views and the rare addition of your own private access (shared with only one neighboring property), to a secluded sandy/rocky beach.

The accommodation itself is airy and bright with clean, modern interiors with a distinctive coastal vibe and excellent quality furnishings. Arranged over three floors, this property would particularly suit families, benefiting from two separate lounge areas.

The villa’s interiors blend with the outside terrace, and you can enjoy brilliant sea views courtesy of some huge windows. The lower ground floor boasts a working fireplace to cozy up to on any chillier evenings, while the master bedroom fills the whole of the first floor with an impressive en-suite with both bath and shower. The two double bedrooms below have use of a choice of two further bathrooms.

Outdoor living is at its very finest here, with a large and well-equipped terrace, set within well maintained grounds. In the evenings, take advantage of the cooling sea breeze and the enchanting seaside and rural scenery, while you sample the local seafood or specialties picked up from one of the quaint villages nestled within the mountainous Madonie National Park, just an hour to the South.

Just 6km away is the resort town of Cefalú, sitting in the shadow of the towering granite of the cliffs of La Rocca and with its enchanting combination of medieval cobbled streets featuring a myriad of shops and excellent restaurants, alongside such cultural gems as the Norman cathedral and architectural museum.

Other idyllic fishing villages and towns further along the coast include Aspra, Porticello, Altavilla Milicia, San Nicola l’Arena and Trabia, while Termini is just 30km away. The vibrant city of Palermo can be reached in around an hour and is a fantastic place to spend the day sightseeing and soaking up the Sicilian way of life.

Location:

Beach lovers will be spoilt for choice in this area of Northwest Sicily. With private access to a beautiful, secluded cove, brave adventurers can enjoy their morning swim from almost right on the doorstep. Just along the cove you will find a popular but not too busy sandy beach. About 6km away, the resort town of Cefalú has a further choice of beaches with an increased variety of facilities.

Nearby Cefalú really does have something for everyone. Suspended between the Tyrrhenian Sea and the Madonie mountains with the towering granite rock of La Rocca overseeing it all, culture and beauty combine here. With an essence of Arabian mystery alongside the historical Norman qualities, the cobbled medieval streets and alleyways twist and turn hosting a variety of shops, cafés and restaurants. La Rocca itself should be on every itinerary, it’s no easy feat but if the exertion of the climb doesn’t do it, the views from the summit will certainly take your breath away. Culture lovers will struggle to fit in all the monuments, architecture and museums that are on offer. The highlight being the very famous Norman Cathedral, which was rumored to be built in Cefalú rather than capital Palermo due to a vow made to God himself, when the ruler of that time washed up on the shores of the village after a devastating storm.

An hour to the South is the mountainous region of the Madonie National Park where quaint villages such as Castelbuono and Polizzi Generosa, as well as ancient forests nestle in the shadows of the mountain’s peaks. Nature lovers will gaze in awe at the 350-year-old giant hollies or soaring eagles. The more athletic can choose to hike or cycle along an abundance of footpaths and bridleways which are well marked out with detailed guides readily available to purchase locally. The ash clouds of Mount Etna can be seen in the distance and kids will also love the climbing walls and rope ladders of the adventure park.

From Cefalú, there are daily crossings to the Aeolian islands. Pick from the black sands of Stromboli, the sulphuric waters of Vulcano or sample the sweet wines of Salina on a day trip across the azure waters of the archipelago.

The city of Palermo is around an hour’d drive away and offers the best of Sicilian architecture, food and ambience. The street markets here are particularly good, while the old town is lined with bars, cannoli stores and boutiques, providing plenty of entertainment throughout the day.
