VIEW LISTA passport is required for all travelers, including infants and children. Return tickets are required for all travelers. Be prepared to pay $16 per person for departure tax (to be paid in cash at Customs). No visa is required for Eastern Caribbean or North and South American citizens. No vaccinations are required.
In the case of minors, when traveling with your children, but without your spouse or partner, please have a notarized letter from the non-present parent authorizing the child’s travel. If not, the child may be held at security and unable to travel. This letter is highly recommended for any international destination (airlines include Hawaii in this case), and suggested for travel within the continental United States.
On land or in the water, the Canouan climate is always amazing. No more than five degrees ever separates the air temperature from the ocean temperature, creating a perfect climate for every activity. The driest season is December to May. The rainy season is July to October. The coolest months occur between November and February. From August through October there is always a danger of a hurricane bearing down on the island. The hurricane tracks are usually far from Canouan but it is best to be always observant of local warnings.
Canouan uses the local Eastern Caribbean Dollar. Banks on the island provide exchange services for all major foreign currencies, cash or travelers checks. There is one ATM machine on the island.
Canouan Island is in the Atlantic Standard Time zone, one hour ahead of Eastern Standard Time and four hours behind Greenwich Mean Time.

The government tax of seven percent is added to all restaurant bills. Resort restaurants already include 10 to 15 percent.
