Each day you will be tempted to stay close to Tamarind Hills, with the silky white sands of Ffryes Beach and Darkwood Beach below. Secluded by green hilltops and popular with tourists and locals alike, both beaches are well-known beauty spots. Swim and snorkel in the crystalline waters here, before stopping for lunch at a restaurant near Jolly Harbour Marina.
Serene beaches are only the beginning of all that this friendly island has to offer. Only a twenty-minute drive away, the Antiguan capital of St. John’s is easily accessible. This colourful Caribbean port is home to an impressive cathedral and lively markets by the harbour every weekend. For a chance to learn more about the nation’s fascinating history, you can also visit the Museum of Antigua and Barbuda, located in the old colonial Court House.
Slightly further afield, Nelson’s Dockyard National Park is one of five national parks in Antigua. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site, this eighteenth-century British naval dockyard is an area of great historical significance on the island, as well as a popular venue for maritime events and activities.
