DETAILS & AMENITIES

You’ll fall in love all over again when you stay in Aspa, near the town of Oia, on the north coast of Santorini, one of the Cycladic islands in the Greek Aegean Sea. The villa is nestled in nature, overlooking the traditional village of Finikia, famous for its breathtakingly beautiful Santorini sunsets. Villa Aspo is one of four luxury properties on a tiny complex, adjacent to a winery, where you can take a tour of the vineyards, sample the varieties, and bring a bottle or two home with you.

This one-bedroom fisherman’s cottage-style studio can accommodate up to two guests and would make the ideal honeymoon getaway, or a romantic couple’s retreat. This beautiful-to-behold bijou villa is built out of classic whitewashed walls with a domed roof, and soft duck egg blue framed double doors and windows, that are so typical of the island. The property is surrounded by volcanic mountains, ancient olive groves, and vineyards laden with grapes. The villa comes complete with air conditioning and Wi-Fi throughout. The interior of the villa has echoes of a beach house, furnished with contemporary pieces, using a lot of natural light wood, and a tranquil color palette of crisp white with soothing earth tones. Enter the villa to reveal a light and airy studio room, home to a king-size bed with a Simmons Bedding Company mattress, comfy chairs, a desk that can be a dining table, and a smart flat-screen television. There is a small kitchenette, with a minibar and fridge, where you can rustle up a morning coffee or an evening cocktail. The ensuite bathroom has a walk-in shower, hand basin, a WC, and complimentary Yves Roche toiletries.

The dazzling white terrace, decorated with planted terracotta pots, is home to your very own private swimming pool with hydromassage therapy jets for two. Relax and soak up some rays on the super large, dove grey, day bed sun lounger, with billowing white sail parasol. Sit back and catch up with this year’s best-seller in the white linen deckchairs. Meet on the terrace, as the sun sets over the horizon, for a sundowner cocktail, before feasting alfresco at the four-seater dining set, and raising a glass of the local wine to the most memorable holiday. As an added bonus they serve freshly made breakfast everyday at the veranda or inside of each villa with fruit and veg produced from their very own chemical free garden free of charge!

Location:

Aspa can be found nestled in nature, overlooking the village of Finikia, near the exclusive resort town of Oia, on the north coast of Santorini, a Cycladic island in the southern Aegean Sea. The villa is nineteen kilometers from Santorini’s International Airport and thirteen kilometers from the port of Athinios. Adjacent to the villa is the Domain Sigla winery, where you can taste the wine, and dine in their excellent restaurant. The nearest village is Finikia, a fifteen-minute walk away through the Santorini countryside. In Finikia there are mini markets, with provisions to cater for your holiday, a few family-run tavernas in which to sample the local cuisine, and the charming church of Saint Matrona.

The nearest beach is Baxedes, a fifteen-minute walk from the villa, this secluded unspoilt beach has dark sand and pebbles, and is far away from the madding tourist crowds. The nearby old town of Oia is rather magical, a fishing village, with a maze of colorful lanes, populated with exclusive boutiques, leading down to the harbor. Here you will find supermarkets and restaurants, banks and bakeries, souvenir shops and more. Seek solace in blue-domed Greek Orthodox churches, tilt at windmills, visit the Naval Museum, cliff dive off Ammoudi Bay, enjoy freshly caught seafood by the seashore, and stay for the famous sunsets. Stroll the nine-kilometer trail and hike the Caldera edge until you get to the capital town of Fira, on Santorini’s west coast. In Fira town centre there are lots of museums, choose from the Santorini Wine Museum, the Archeological Museum of Thera, the Museum of Prehistoric Fira, or the Tomato Museum.

Take a walk to the top of Thera Mountain, where you can explore the ancient city ruins, and admire the views from the world’s only sunken caldera. All aboard a boat trip to the uninhabited islet of Nea and Palia Kameni, an active volcano, with a path of black lava rock, smoking craters, and sulphureous hot springs. Visit the villages and find out what island life was really like. Highly recommended is Pyrgos, found in the foothills of Mount Profitis, surrounded by vineyards that produce the highly prized Assyrtiko white wines. Take a trip back in time as you walk down the steep medieval alleyways, populated with tavernas and wine bars, art galleries and gift shops, a museum that showcases traditional island life, and one that is home to religious relics in the former Agia Triada chapel.

Don’t miss a visit to Akrotiri, a prehistoric city, that was believed to be the first settlement on the island, dating back to Neolithic times. For more recent history, The Arygyros Mansion has guided tours of this neo-classical Venetian merchant’s home. Santorini hosts an annual film festival, and the twice-daily film screenings at the alfresco Cine Kamari are not to be missed. Spend a day island hopping, swimming and snorkeling in the azure Aegean Sea, enjoying a meal of Greek meze on board, before watching the sunset as you sail back into the harbor.
