It is an enchanting, characterful alternative to the frenetic, heady melting pot of Marrakech and invites relaxation and rejuvenation. Dar Diabat comes with five gorgeous bedrooms, including a delightful children’s room, gorgeous living spaces, a beautiful pool and is fully staffed. The villa sits on the fabulous Sofitel Essaouira Mogador Golf and Spa Resort, where guests can enjoy discounts in their bar, restaurants, spa and golf course. Dar Diabat is just a few minutes by car from the city centre. It enjoys views of the resort lake and the golf course and is only a three-minute walk from the golf academy. The villa is modern, elegant and beautifully presented. Its open-plan living space is brimming with contemporary furnishings, a smart dining area, a television area, and an attractive open fireplace and boasts stunning views of the garden and pool area.

The villa boasts five beautifully presented bedrooms. Three double rooms offer sumptuous double beds adorned with luxury linens and gorgeous soft furnishings, and ensuite bathrooms. The master offers a bath and shower, while the other two enjoy walk-in showers. Another double room adjoins a children’s bedroom and shares a bathroom with it. The double is lovely with comfy twin beds that can be set up as a kingsize bed. The enchanting children’s room enjoys fun bunk beds, a play area and extra beds. The room can sleep up to six children in total. The bathrooms in Dar Diabat boast the very best fittings and exquisite tiling.

You will not want to leave Dar Diabat’s outdoor space, where there are quality loungers and hanging rattan egg chairs surrounding the delightful pool. On the other terrace, there is an alfresco lounge area which enjoys sensational sunset views, and another south-facing terrace offers alfresco dining and a summer kitchen area. Location:

Dar Diabat enjoys a peaceful location on the Sofitel Essaouria Mogador Golf and Spa Resort in Essaouira. Guests enjoy world-class amenities and the soul-soothing charms of Essaouira on Morocco’s Atlantic coast. Visitors to Essaouira enjoy stunning beaches, thrilling watersports, delicious fresh seafood and a buzzing Medina. The town is very much a working port and fishing town as well as a beautiful tourist hub. It is known for its coastal wind, beautifully named the Alizee, giving the town the name of the ‘Wind City of Africa’.

You will enjoy a relaxed shopping experience in the Medina of Essaouira. There are five main gates and a laid-back, car-free pedestrian area sprinkled with souks that you can explore at your own pace. You will discover palm-lined avenues lined with art galleries and boutiques. You will enjoy the gorgeous white and blue facades and the striking ramparts. Dating from the late 18th century and added to the UNESCO World Heritage list in 2001, it is a lovely place to stroll. It was famously used in the opening scene of Orson Wells’ 1951 films Othello and Game of Thrones. The Medina is surrounded by dramatic, wave-lashed ramparts which offer spectacular sunset views. The Slala de la Ville 18th-century ramparts protect the Medina and its row of nineteen bronze cannons from the crashing waves and seafaring marauders.

Essaouira’s busy port is filled with colourful fishing boats. There is a large fish auction in the market hall by the port gates every Saturday, plus you can watch the daily catch being sold every afternoon to the restaurants around the harbour. You will see the sea-blue wooden boats arriving and departing and nets being repaired.

The beaches are great fun for windsurfing and kite surfing though the water is pretty cold. The beach runs for approximately six miles and is popular for walking, football and other sports. Swimming is best in the town stretch as Safi Beach to the north has a strong current. Camel owners are founds on the sands to the south. You can head south across the Ksob River to see the ruins of the Borj El Berod, an old fortress and pavilion at low tide. From here, you can walk inland to the village of Diabat or continue to the sand dunes of Cap Sim.

The Gnaoua World Music Festival is held in June for three days. It is Essaouira’s biggest annual event. The Gnaoua people are descendants of slaves that originated from Black Africa and established brotherhoods throughout Morocco. They are made up of master musicians, metal castanet players, clairvoyants, mediums and their followers. The festival showcases their talents with music and mysticism.
