Why Vail?

One of the top ski destinations in the US, Vail offers spectacular skiing and snowboarding conditions with over 5,000 acres of terrain. Built specifically to support the ski resort, the town of Vail has everything you’d expect from the largest ski resort in the country. With year-round events and enough activities on and off the slopes to keep you busy, Vail is paradise nestled in the heart of the Rocky Mountains.

The winter months are, of course, a prime time to visit this Colorado haven. With endless runs to take and pristine snow that is rivaled by few destinations, Vail is a must-do for any ski or snowboarding enthusiast. If you’re still a beginner, what better place to take lessons? The Ski & Snowboard School is well known for its excellence. The unique school offers a variety of programs and classes geared towards all ages and levels, including one just for girls taught by women to encourage athleticism and to provide positive female role models. Those that consider themselves experts will be challenged by the mountain’s more difficult runs as well as the terrain parks. With the sheer size of the mountain, plan on spending at least a few days on the slopes to make the most of your time here.

This mountain paradise offers just as many opportunities for active adventures in the summer months, as well. Trade your skis for a bike and take advantage of the miles and miles of trails that are perfect for beginners on up to “master adrenaline junkies”. The gondola that serves skiers and snowboarders in the colder months also hauls mountain bikers up for stunning views and access to numerous trails. Other popular summertime activities include whitewater rafting and kayaking, golf, hiking, and excellent fishing. If a day on the mountain leaves you aching (literally) for more easy-going pursuits, consider events like the Vail Jazz festival and the Bravo! Vail Music festival which draw big names and perform weekly concerts throughout the summer. If lounging on the grass and listening to world-class musicians isn’t relaxing enough, Vail is also home to many premier spas, perfect for a full day of indulgence or just a massage after a day on the mountain.

From snowy peaks in the winter to green hills and trails to explore in the summer and every other season in between, Vail is a stunning location for your next Time & Place vacation. Those that require heart-pumping thrills won’t be disappointed by the year round abundance of outdoor adventures and their spa and culture-loving counterparts will be delighted by this gorgeous mountain wonderland. See what everyone is talking about and visit Vail!
