I love Nantucket and spent 21 years vacationing in the area. After many years, it’s always wonderful to meet new people who visit the island — and the wonderful staff at Lola 41 are great facilitators. They create incredible sushi and outstanding dirty martinis. Whether it’s your first time on the island, or your hundredth, Lola 41 is a special place that makes everyone welcome. Marco is a master at creating the most fun and welcoming atmosphere, with an amazing support staff. Also, it’s perhaps the best music of any bar I’ve frequented– new and fresh, without being predictable.
Another favorite for a luxurious night out (sans enfants) is American Seasons. This has to be one of my favorite restaurants in the US. Ask for the intimate (4-5 person ) banquette adjacent to the bar or any table in this charming spot and settle in for a beautiful dinner with fine wines in a lively and fun atmosphere. Orlaith and her team will take fantastic care of you. Tell her that Mitch sent you.
But its not all about food in Nantucket. A unique little shop loved by my daughters is Nantucket Natural Oils. It’s your opportunity to have a personal scent created just for you – a tiny $35 bottle that will last you a year. What’s cool is the owner can create a fragrance to match your mood and style. He’s quite creative and as he explains the process, it feels like working with a scientist.
There are many more establishments I love, but ultimately, Nantucket is about simpler joys. I would be remiss not to recommend a picnic dinner with a small grill. Go to one of many beaches and watch spectacular waves crashing in the sunset. Let your Time & Place Concierge help you choose among the many beaches and have a magical evening.
Oh, to be in Nantucket…
