Trullo Checco offers guests the perfect combination of old and new; here you can stay in a 200-year-old home which retains stunning original features and sits in an enchanting rural setting, while at the same time enjoying all of the modern comforts you could need for a relaxing stay. Eight guests can be accommodated here and will be treated to bright and airy interiors which lead out in to a vast, landscaped garden with a private pool as well as an inviting hot tub.
As you approach the home through the expansive privately owned grounds which are filled with fruit and olive trees, you will be entering a peaceful oasis where you can truly unwind with your nearest and dearest. The garden is beautifully designed and well-equipped with a covered dining area, outdoor sofas under the shade of the trees and pretty patios where you can enjoy a drink in the sun. Guests can choose to soak in the hot tub or swim lengths of the large swimming pool, all the while taking in the delightful views.
Stepping in to the Trullo, the light and colors of the garden flow into the rooms from the doors and windows, illuminating the period features such as the vaulted ceilings and the original stone floors. The four bedrooms; three double, en-suite rooms and one room with twin beds, each have a calming neutral color palette and crisp linens to assure guests of a restful night’s sleep. When you wish to gather together for breakfast, you can do so in the open-plan living space which is just off the fully fitted kitchen, unless you would prefer to take breakfast on terrace which is right outside.
The home enjoys a rural location enveloped by farmland, hills and valleys which you can traverse by bike or on foot. From the home you can also explore the natural beauty of Puglia’s coastline as the nearest beaches; a pebble beach and a long sandy beach are each under 20km away. If you would like to visit an authentic fishing village, lined with pristine beaches you should try Savelletri which is 37km away from the home.
The closest amenities to the villa can be found in Ceglie Messapica, a town which has a 2000-year history and is an 8km drive away. In addition, you can drive to Locorotondo (31km away), this is a small town packed with clusters of cone shaped Trulli which are only found in this region and is a fantastic place to spend a day.
Those wishing for a day of shopping, visiting museums and ancient churches and enjoying a bit of café culture should head to Ostuni, the “white city” which is a mere 10km away from the house.

Location:
Puglia is a stunning region in the south of Italy which is known for producing world-class olive oil. This is evidenced by the landscape dotted with centuries-old olive groves which wrap around Trullo Checco, a historic villa nestled within pretty gardens and expansive Mediterranean shrubland. Nevertheless, you do not need travel far to visit Puglia’s beaches and the gorgeous towns of the Valle D’Itria.
The house sits in an idyllic location in rolling countryside where you can walk, hike or explore the area by bike – children’s bikes can be hired from the owners. As well as verdant hills, Puglia is known for its incredible beaches which line the Savelletri and Adriatic coastlines. The closest beach is Torre Santa Sabina (19km) and is serviced by plenty of cafés and restaurants so you can stay at the coast for dinner with a sea view.
From the home there are a great selection of towns and villages you can pay a visit to, including Ceglie Messapica which is the closest town, just 8km from the villa. The town boasts ancient ruins and monuments and a medieval castle called Castello Ducale which contains historic rooms as well as an art gallery. Ceglie Messapica’s 2000-year-old streets are a fabulous place for an afternoon stroll where you can take your time popping into little shops and tasting the local biscotti di Ceglie at a street side café. If you visit the town for dinner, you will find a range of eateries including family-run trattorias tucked away down the atmospheric alley ways. Another similar town which is well-worth a trip is San Vito dei Normanni which is 14km from the home.
If you would like to visit a lively city, then why not drive to the hilltop city of Ostuni which dazzles in the light due to its whitewashed buildings. The city is 10km away and sits inside historic walls and is easy to explore on foot as you head through the medieval stone gates. There is lots to see and do in Ostuni including visiting the huge archaeological park with ruins from the Neolithic era, the park is just outside of the city. In the center you can join in with food tours, step inside the imposing Gothic cathedral and visit the civic museum. As the sun sets the views of the surrounding landscape are awe-inspiring, making this the perfect time to stop at a restaurant with an outdoor dining space for dinner.
It would be a shame to visit Puglia without seeing the beautiful Trulli filled towns of Alberobello and Locorotondo which are both under 40km away. You could visit just one of these towns or take a full-day tour which pays a visit to both. Some of these tours include food such as Puglian sandwiches and wine while others take in some of the sights on e-bikes or segways which is a fun and unique way to get around!
