This 1965 built contemporary two-bedroom home is located in Canyon Estates and redefined for today. Using Asian influences, the home merges diverse elements throughout to create a perfect weekend retreat. The designer used materials and design elements that emphasized balance and flow. The floors are stained concrete in earthy tones with complementing wool area rugs to create movement. The great room features a formal dining area with step down bar, formal living area in front of a fireplace surround, and entertainment area with lounge feel. The design elements are a remarkable mix of materials, textures, and styles. The fireplace surrounds is made up of composites of concrete, sand, rock, and glass in geometric sections complementing the stylish furnishings. The designer used traditional furnishings from a Noguchi coffee table to a Barcelona bench and accessorized with antiques like a Buddha bust and contemporary lighting for a balanced ambiance. The entertainment area features a 72-inch LCD flat-screen television. The kitchen features beautiful walnut cabinetry and sleek polished brown surface in countertops for the perfect culinary creations in state of the art appliances.
The Master suite continues the Asian ambiance with bamboo end tables and a Chinese armoire. The zebra-patterned bench at the foot of the bed and geometric lines in artwork and patterns in the room provide a sense of structure and free-flowing design fusion. Through the doorway outside the suite hangs a strategically placed bold painting by Palm Springs artist Robert Bracketti. Most windows in the home are covered with a gauze-like linen fabric that slightly filters out light for soft environment. The guest bedroom features a display of Burmese Bible strips and additional comfortable furnishings. Both rooms use shoji screens rather than doors for the closets. An additional den is available for a third bedroom with a comfortable futon sleeping arrangement.
The Zen atmosphere continues outdoors with a trapezoid-shaped yard featuring a river of rock encompassing a similar shaped pool and raised sundeck spa to optimize unobstructed mountain views.
